The Palais de Chaillot is situated across the Seine River from the Eiffel Tower. One of the most popular places to photograph the Eiffel Tower is from the front of the Palais de Chaillot, where you can see the Tower in the background and the lovely sprouting fountains of the Palais in the forefront. Not surprisingly, the best view of the Palais de Chaillot is from one of the observatory levels on the Eiffel Tower, as it offers an excellent bird's eye view of not only the Palais' expansive property, but also Paris in general. The Palais de Chaillot was built for the Universal Exhibition in 1937. The unique structure has a miniature pedestrian mall flanked on both sides by arched wings that outreach from a small plaza. It houses a number of prominent Paris art venues, including the musée du Cinéma, the musée national des Monuments Français, the musée des Matériaux du C.R.M.H, the musée de l'Homme, the musée de la Marine and the Théatre national de Chaillot.
